Jessie is a 2016 Wake alum, currently working in Wake Student Athlete Development. In her time at Wake, she studied communications and sociology. She was a 3 time ACC Champ in the Javelin, and she even competed in the US Olympic trials. While missing the Rio team, she was able to compete for Team USA in El Salvador, where she medalled with a bronze.
Needless to say, Jessie was a top notch athlete, but if you ever talked to her, she would never show it. Jessie is easily one of the most humble people I know. As we filmed this highlight, I tried to get her to mention a few more details about her success as a thrower, but never once did she budge. She kept coming back to her identity in Christ, which is she so deeply rooted in. My heart rejoices when I talk with this friend of mine. Her laugh is infectious, and she's a genuinely caring person. She never fails to make me smile or remind me how faithful our God is. Many of us are blessed to call her friend, and we're happy to share a little bit of her with you through this highlight.
Give this video a play to hear from this Judy Garland-loving, javelin throwing friend of ours whose identity is really, simply Daughter of the One True King. She's giving God control of her life daily.
